About About About About About About About About About
Trophy Lakes was built in 1988 by skiers Kim Bryant and Alan Sanner, specifically for skiers. There are two lakes, originally equipped with two slalom courses and one jump. Lake 1 has the ultimate lake design: 275 feet wide, 2,250 feet long, an average depth of 10 to 12 feet, as well as 10 to 1 slopes. Lake 2, although a little shorter, is an equally great lake for slalom or wakeboard. The lakes have stood the test of time, and Trophy Lakes has been the site of thirteen world records and too many personal bests to count! Twenty-one new records have been established for federations of foreign countries. Magazine articles and feature stories extolling the great water conditions and friendly environment found at Trophy Lakes have been published by Waterski Magazine.

Kim and Alan started a ski school shortly after the first lake was complete. The ski school has been the home to countless ski and wake instructors who coached all levels of skiing. Their coaching and training has helped create many regional and national champions. In the mid-to-late nineties, Doug and Drew Ross moved to Charleston and helped put the Trophy Lakes on water skiers' "must-visit" list. It has always been the mission of Trophy Lakes to meet, if not exceed, the expectations of a world-class water ski facility.

In the spring of 2008, Trophy Lakes entered into a partnership and lease with Hans Menzel, owner of Carolina MasterCraft. This great relationship enables Trophy Lakes to be a one-stop shop for the water sports enthusiast looking for ropes, gloves, skis, wakeboards, and MasterCraft boats. Lake Manager, Matt DuBon, and the Trophy Lakes crew are happy to welcome you to the "magic waters" year around.

Proximity to beautiful downtown Charleston (5 miles) and the resort islands of Kiawah and Seabrook make Trophy Lakes a water ski training center the whole family can easily enjoy. Trophy Lakes is only 20 minutes from the Charleston airport and there is a wide choice of accommodations and dining options available.

Over two decades after its beginnings, Trophy Lakes is still providing the water ski community with the best facilities. Trophy Lakes has been an exclusive MasterCraft site since day one offering the best pull available. Our ski and wake instructors come from around the world and offer a diverse teaching style catering to the needs of amateur to professional athletes.

In the early spring of 2012 Cablebahn, a newcomer to the cable park industry, will debut three 2-mast-cable systems on lake 2. Trophy Lakes will serve as the flagship site for Cablebahn's systems in the US and be the ideal playground for wakeboarders. As the future unfolds, Trophy Lakes is looking forward to growing and providing the best skiing conditions possible to all skiers and wakeboarders who come to visit.
